The Northwest took all three YCC championships, with Disc Northwest defending their Girls and Open titles, while a new champion emerged from Eugene in Mixed. The story of the Girls and Mixed division championship runs was one of domination, as Eugene never gave up double digits and the Disc Northwest girls never gave up more than 4 points in a game the entire weekend. The Disc Northwest Open team took an entirely different path, coming back from a loss in pool play and a 10-6 deficit in the finals to pull of the 15-14 overtime comeback victory. Saturday's action at the YCC took place under sunny skies, warm temperatures, and light breezes...pretty much perfect weather for the top Youth teams in the US to showcase their skills. The Disc Northwest girls dominated and look to be well on their way to defending their YCC championship. Eugene took control of the Mixed Division, but several other teams, including New England, the defending champs from Atlanta, and the hometown Minneapolis squad, looked good and will no doubt step it up for Sunday elimination play. The Open Division was all about close games, especially in the B Pool. where every team ended up with a win. Pittsburgh is playing well, but look for close games throughout elimination play on Sunday, and the potential for some upsets along the way.
